PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) – The 36th annual Duck Race is next month, and those who want to support the Center for Prevention of Abuse can take advantage of a special offer tomorrow.

According to Celsy Young, the center’s marketing and communications director, the ducks are on a “buy one duck, get one free tomorrow” offer while supplies last.

“At BOGO, we have special funds reserved where you buy one duck and get another one free,” she said. “These aren’t available for very long and sell out quickly.”

Due to high demand, Young recommends anyone interested try to get them as early as possible on Thursday.

Their goal is to sell 35,000 ducks this year. So far, the center has sold more than 10,000, raising $39,660 in free services for victims of domestic violence, abuse and human trafficking.

“We want people to know that when they buy a duck for $5, whether it’s during the BOGO offer or just during our regular sales season here this summer, all of the funds raised for the ducks will go directly to our services. And it can be someone they know, a neighbor, a best friend, your brother, the barista at a local coffee shop, your favorite barista,” Young said.

Last year the duck race raised over $230,000.

The ducks will be sold until race day on August 24. The grand prize winner will receive $10,000. Interested parties can learn more here.
